The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has finalized preparations for the upcoming general elections on February 8, 2024. They have identified over 17,500 polling stations as highly sensitive and more than 32,500 as sensitive.

To ensure the integrity of the election process, the polling supervisor has mandated the installation of surveillance cameras at highly sensitive polling stations nationwide. Directives have been issued to chief secretaries and district returning officers (DROs) regarding this initiative.

A total of 92,500 polling stations have been designated across the country, categorized into three groups by the ECP. Specifically, 42,500 are considered normal, 32,508 as sensitive, and over 17,500 as highly sensitive.

Within the highly sensitive polling stations, Punjab houses 6,599, Sindh has 4,430, Balochistan contains 238, and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) hosts 4,344. CCTV cameras will be strategically installed in these stations to closely monitor the election proceedings.

Breaking down the highly sensitive stations further, Punjab has 15,829, Sindh boasts 8,030, Balochistan includes 2,068, and K-P features more than 6,500. Additionally, in the federal capital, 990 polling stations and 3,096 polling booths are set to be established for the upcoming elections.
