Athens – October 28, 2025:
Students from schools across Athens filled the streets of the Greek capital on Tuesday, proudly marching to commemorate ‘Ochi Day’, one of Greece’s most significant national holidays marking the country’s defiance against fascism during World War II.

The annual parade took place in central Athens, with students — some dressed in traditional Greek attire — marching past the Hellenic Parliament and the Monument to the Unknown Soldier at Syntagma Square. The event symbolizes the moment in 1940 when Greece rejected the Italian ultimatum demanding surrender, declaring a firm “No” (“Ochi”) to Mussolini’s forces.

In addition to students, scouts, guides, cultural associations, and organizations representing people with disabilities also participated in the parade, highlighting unity and national pride.

Thousands of spectators lined the streets from the early morning hours, waving flags and capturing photos of the vibrant display of patriotism and remembrance.
The celebration is part of nationwide events held each year to honor Greece’s resilience and the sacrifices made during the Second World War.
