In response to a reported $5.49 per barrel decrease in international petrol prices, there is an anticipation of a significant reduction in petrol and diesel prices in Pakistan. Sources indicate a potential decrease of Rs13 per litre in petrol and Rs15 per litre in diesel prices as a response to the declining global rates.
It is noteworthy that despite the earlier reduction in international rates, the government had maintained the petrol and diesel prices unchanged for the first half of December 2023.
As of now, petrol is priced at Rs281.34 per litre, and diesel is being sold at Rs289.79 per litre in Pakistan. The projected prices from December 16, 2023, suggest a new rate of Rs268.34 per litre for petrol and Rs274.79 per litre for diesel.
