A petition has been filed in the Lahore High Court (LHC) challenging the practice of detaining underage drivers in police lockups.

Rana Sikandar Advocate has filed a petition urging the Lahore High Court (LHC) to address the issue of detaining underage drivers in police lockups. The plea highlights that juvenile children are being held in violation of the law, specifically the Act of 2018, regarding driving license offenses. The petitioner has called on the LHC to issue orders on this matter.

It's worth noting that the Lahore police have intensified their crackdown on underage drivers, particularly in the DHA area, following a tragic road crash that resulted in the loss of six lives in Lahore. Special checkpoints have been established, and the Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) of Lahore has emphasized the risks posed by underage drivers to themselves and others. The CTO also urged parents not to permit their underage children to operate vehicles or motorcycles.
