Five terrorists were eliminated in a security forces operation in North Waziristan, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

In an intelligence-based operation (IBO) conducted in the Mir Ali area of North Waziristan on December 29, security forces killed five terrorists, including a terrorist commander known as Rahzaib or Khuray, according to a statement by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Saturday.
The ISPR reported that the killed terrorists were actively involved in various terrorist activities against security forces, including extortion and target killings of civilians. Weapons and ammunition were recovered during the operation, and locals in the area reportedly appreciated the action.
The security forces are continuing a sanitization operation to eliminate any other terrorists in the region. The ISPR emphasized its determination to eradicate the menace of terrorism from the country.
Additionally, the year 2023 witnessed a disturbing surge in suicide attacks in Pakistan, reaching the highest level since 2014. Security forces were the primary targets, with civilians constituting the second-largest victim category.
The data indicated that 48% of deaths and 58% of injuries were inflicted upon security personnel, while civilian casualties accounted for 130 deaths and 242 injuries.
