In PESHAWAR (news24/7, Reported), seven individuals, including three school children, sustained injuries, two of them severe, in an explosion on Warsak Road on Tuesday morning.
According to the police, the explosive device was planted alongside the road near a private bank and a school, causing nearby building windows to shatter.
Rescue teams and security personnel promptly arrived at the scene, transferring the injured to Lady Reading Hospital. Hospital sources indicated that a nine-year-old child is in critical condition. The injured children range from seven to 10 years old.
Identified as Ahmed Zia, Ehsanullah, Javed Khan, Zahirullah, Saad Ahmed, Shakirullah, and Yusuf Khan, the injured individuals received medical attention, while the bank staff remained unharmed.
Wardak SP Arshad Khan informed the media that the blast occurred at 9:10 am, involving the use of four kilograms of explosives. An investigation is underway to determine when the explosive material was planted.
According to Reuters, Bilal Ahmad Faizi, the spokesman for emergency rescue services, reported that an improvised explosive device (IED) detonated on a busy road. While there was no immediate claim of responsibility, Peshawar's police chief, Mohammad Ashfaq Anwar, stated that there was no indication that school children were the intended targets.
