The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) is anticipated to unveil the election timetable on December 14th.

Amid escalating political tensions within the nation, it is anticipated that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) will declare the much-anticipated general election schedule on December 14, as reported by The News on Friday. Political parties are actively engaged in campaign activities and strategic negotiations to fortify their positions for the upcoming polls scheduled for February 8 next year.

The electoral body recently finalized the delineation of constituencies, overcoming a significant obstacle to the announcement of the election dates. It is currently in the concluding stages of appointing district returning officers, returning officers, and assistant officers, adhering to the provisions outlined in the Elections Act of 2017.

As per Sections 50 and 51 of the Elections Act, a district returning officer is designated for each district or specified area, and a returning officer is appointed for each constituency in assembly elections.

In observance of National Voters Day, Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja conveyed a message, highlighting the successful completion of the printing and delivery of the final electoral rolls. CEC Raja emphasized the ECP's awareness of its constitutional and legal responsibilities regarding elections and related matters.

Reiterating the ECP's preparedness and commitment, CEC Raja assured voters of complete security, privacy, and transparency throughout the electoral process. He encouraged public participation in the polls, emphasizing the significance of shaping a bright future through the democratic process.

Dispelling rumors of election delays, the Finance Division released Rs17.4 billion to the ECP on Tuesday for poll arrangements. The ECP, last week, officially announced the final list of constituency delineations for national and provincial assemblies, paving the way for the imminent election schedule.

CEC Raja affirmed that the elections would proceed as scheduled, underscoring the commission's commitment to ensuring comprehensive security during the polling process. He urged the public to exercise their right to vote for the betterment of the country and collaborate with the ECP to ensure peaceful elections.

Highlighting the "power of the vote" on National Voters Day, observed annually on December 7, CEC Raja called upon citizens to cast their ballots with a consideration of their children's future. The day aims to raise awareness about voter registration and encourages citizens to utilize the ballot to elect their representatives.
