PTI is preparing for a comeback on polling day, aiming for an unexpected outcome despite facing various challenges.

As the general elections draw near, the political landscape is undergoing considerable flux, with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) poised for a comeback despite facing attempts to suppress it through administrative means. Despite reports of restrictions on public meetings and rallies, the PTI has found respite in court decisions, providing a boost to the party grappling with legal and criminal actions against its leaders and members post the May 9 attacks.

Contrastingly, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN), often perceived as the 'King’s Party,' appears relatively dormant, failing to exert the expected effort to outmaneuver the pressured PTI in Punjab. Despite alleged administrative backing, the PMLN is yet to kickstart its election campaign to galvanize public support.

While the PMLN seems to be waiting for a strategic turn of events, PTI's leadership and supporters draw encouragement from recent court rulings, such as the Supreme Court’s verdict on the cipher case and the Peshawar High Court’s decision against the Election Commission of Pakistan’s order to withdraw the PTI’s election symbol, the ‘bat.’ These decisions have revitalized enthusiasm within PTI ranks.

A recent development includes the Islamabad High Court's issuance of a stay order in the cipher trial until January 11, a relief for Imran Khan against the in-camera proceedings of the trial court. With concerns about Imran Khan's potential conviction in the cipher case alleviated, PTI successfully secures a delay in the trial.

Simultaneously, the PTI legal team actively pursues avenues to reverse Imran Khan’s conviction in the Toshakhana case, awaiting a hearing at the Supreme Court after the judges' return from vacations. If the Supreme Court overturns Imran Khan’s conviction, he becomes eligible to contest the upcoming general elections, significantly enhancing PTI’s electoral prospects.

PTI leaders assert widespread public support, anticipating a surprising outcome on election day if the party's symbol, the 'bat,' appears on the ballot. The significant number of PTI candidates filing nomination papers for the February 8, 2024 elections surpasses the party's count in the 2018 elections, defying earlier speculations about difficulties in finding candidates post the crackdown on the party following the May 9 events.
