A court has directed the nation's leading intelligence agency to determine the source of the leaked audio involving Bushra Khosa.
The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has issued a five-page written verdict for Justice Babar Sattar in the case related to the audio leak.

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has issued a directive on Friday, instructing the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) – the country's principal intelligence agency – to conduct an inquiry to ascertain the identity of the individual responsible for leaking an alleged audio conversation involving Imran Khan's wife, Bushra Bibi, and senior advocate Latif Khosa on various social media platforms.
A writ petition was filed to address concerns related to the purported audio leaks featuring Bushra Bibi and Latif Khosa. In response, IHC Justice Babar Sattar has provided a comprehensive five-page written order, urging the utilization of all available technologies to pinpoint the origin of the audio leak.
Additionally, the court has summoned the Director General of Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) and the Director General of Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) with the expectation that they appear in person at the next hearing.
The Islamabad High Court has specifically tasked the Director General of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) with presenting a detailed report on the origins of the leaked audio conversation involving former Prime Minister Imran Khan's wife, Bushra Bibi, and her lawyer, Latif Khosa.
This legal action comes in response to a case addressing the unauthorized disclosure of a private phone call between the two individuals. The court has further instructed the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to carry out a forensic examination of the audio recording.
Notices have been issued to the FIA, Pemra, and the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), and the next hearing has been adjourned until December 11.
Addressing objections to the petition, Justice Babar Sattar overruled concerns raised by the registrar's office, emphasizing the importance of understanding whether fundamental rights of citizens were violated in the leaked audio.
The written order by the IHC stipulates that the DG Pemra should present the media's code of conduct, clarifying whether such audio content can be broadcasted on national media.
The court has set a deadline of 10 days for the DG ISI, FIA, and PTA to submit their respective reports. Furthermore, the PTA is tasked with tracing the account from which the audio was initially released.
Expressing concern over the perceived inability of the state to prevent such leaks, Justice Babar Sattar remarked that the process of audio leaks raises questions about the state's capacity to address such breaches. The court emphasized that it is crucial to safeguard the fundamental rights of citizens.
The written order of the Islamabad High Court underscores the impression that the state may be falling short in protecting the fundamental rights of its citizens. In response, the Supreme Court has affirmed that consequences must be borne if the fundamental rights of citizens are violated.
The next hearing on the audio leaks case is scheduled for December 20 in the Islamabad High Court.
