Nawaz Sharif anticipates the country's verdict on February 8 following significant legal victories.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Nawaz Sharif expressed optimism on Thursday, anticipating public support for his party in the upcoming elections scheduled for February 8, 2024. In a televised message, Nawaz conveyed his hope that the people would render their judgments on that day, bringing an end to the perceived injustices endured. Since his return to Pakistan in October after a four-year self-imposed exile in London, Nawaz has consistently called for accountability against those responsible for his government's removal in 2017, contending that their actions not only targeted him and his family but also harmed Pakistan.

Following his recent legal triumphs and exoneration from major corruption cases, Nawaz, a three-time prime minister, addressed his supporters for the first time. The Islamabad High Court's decisions to overturn convictions in the Al Azizia Steel Mills corruption case and the Avenfield case, delivered last month and earlier this week, respectively, marked significant victories for Nawaz. The recent court ruling has eliminated a major obstacle for Nawaz to participate in the national elections, scheduled for February 8, 2024. To fully qualify for candidacy, Nawaz now seeks the removal of a life ban on holding public office.
