PTI leader Rana Jamil was apprehended from the vicinity of the Returning Officer's office in connection with the May 9 case.
Advocate Sher Afzal, the nephew of a PTI leader, claims that the Returning Officer played a role in the arrest of Rana Jamil.
PTI leader Rana Jamil Hassan Khan, also known as Good Khan, was apprehended outside the Returning Officer's (RO) office in Nankana Sahib concerning the May 9 incidents, where he had been summoned for signature verification ahead of the upcoming general elections on February 8.
Confirming the arrest, the police stated that it was related to the May 9 events when former PTI chairman Imran Khan was arrested in the Al-Qadir Trust case, leading to widespread protests.
Advocate Sher Afzal, the PTI leader's nephew, alleged the RO's involvement in the arrest, urging the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to take notice. RO Rai Zulfikar asserted that the PTI leader was arrested outside his office, and he was unaware of the reasons behind the arrest.
Mandi Faizabad Police Station detained Hassan in the May 9 case, with a court appearance scheduled for Saturday.
The May 9 riots resulted in casualties and injuries, leading to the arrest of numerous PTI workers for their involvement in violence and attacks on civil and military installations.
