The government's latest policy enables individuals to purchase mobile phones through installment plans.

The interim government has announced the initiation of the 'Contract-based Smartphones Policy' scheme, effective from January 15 next year, enabling individuals to purchase smartphones through installment plans.
This scheme, designed to enhance smartphone accessibility, will later be extended to cater to users traveling abroad, allowing them to acquire the latest smartphone models through easy installment options.
Federal Caretaker Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication, Dr Umar Saif, unveiled the policy, emphasizing its goal of encouraging responsible financial behavior and expanding smartphone accessibility, particularly among low-income segments.
Telecom companies will directly offer smartphones to customers through installment plans under this initiative, contributing to the broader benefits of mobile broadband.
Additionally, the Information Ministry will implement 'Standardized Quality Measurement Tests' across universities from January 7 to 10, 2024, aimed at creating job opportunities for fresh graduates. The ministry has collaborated with various institutions to revamp IT education, and an Industry Placement Programme will offer job opportunities to 20,000 to 25,000 students who pass the test.
The initiative emphasizes the alignment of educational institutions with industry requirements to provide industry-specific training and increase trained manpower in the industrial sector.
The Information Minister stressed the need for universities to swiftly introduce quality courses in entrepreneurship and exports. The overarching goal is to achieve exponential growth in the IT sector, fostering a productivity revolution in the economy through information and communications technology.
