Barrister Ali Zafar announces Gohar Khan's nomination for the position of PTI chairman.

The PTI has scheduled its intra-party elections for Saturday, according to PTI Senator Ali Zafar, who made the announcement during a press conference in Islamabad alongside Raoof Hasan and Barrister Gohar. Zafar clarified that the party chairmanship is temporary, explaining that Imran Khan would resume the position once his disqualification in the Toshakhana case is overturned. Despite Imran's conviction in the Toshakhana case, Zafar noted that the sentence has been suspended, but a final decision is pending.

Zafar emphasized that the directive for intra-party polls came from the former prime minister himself, who believes that PTI is synonymous with Imran Khan. Earlier in the day, Sher Afzal Marwat claimed that Imran Khan would not participate in the elections due to his Toshakhana case conviction, asserting that a new chairman would emerge from the intra-party polls.

However, the PTI officially refuted Marwat's claims on its social media platform X, rejecting speculations and stating that Imran Khan has not conveyed any decision about contesting the polls. The PTI spokesperson emphasized that Imran Khan has neither decided to withdraw from the election nor nominated an alternative leader.

In response to the Election Commission of Pakistan's orders, PTI is gearing up for intra-party elections, as reported earlier in the day.
