Three captains have been selected by Mohammad Amir for the Pakistan cricket team.

Former Pakistani fast bowler Mohammad Amir has shared his insights on potential leaders for the national team across all three formats. During a discussion on a local media channel, Amir suggested a shift in captaincy dynamics and put forward three alternatives to replace the current skipper, Babar Azam.

Amir's recommendations varied across formats. For the T20I format, especially with the T20 World Cup approaching and upcoming series against Australia, Amir proposed Imad Wasim as a suitable choice. In the ODI format, he suggested Shan Masood as a potential leader for a change in regime. Moving to Test cricket, Amir advocated for Sarfaraz Ahmed's inclusion in a leadership role, proposing him as captain with a young player as vice-captain to prepare for the future.

The call for a change in leadership comes in the aftermath of Pakistan's disappointing performance in the 2023 World Cup. Babar Azam and the team management, including head coach Grant Bradburn and team director Mickey Arthur, are facing challenges in maintaining their leadership positions. Discussions within the board about this matter reportedly began before the match against England. The likelihood of Babar Azam continuing as captain in white-ball cricket appears uncertain. However, some quarters have suggested to Chairman Management Committee Zaka Ashraf that Babar should remain captain during the upcoming Test series against Australia. A decision on this matter is expected in the coming days, and there are unconfirmed reports indicating that Babar Azam may be contemplating resigning as captain.
