Just days after resigning, Sarfraz Bugti, the former caretaker interior minister, officially joined the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) in compliance with the legal requirement for contesting polls. At a PPP workers convention in Turbat, Bugti revealed that he received direction from Asif Ali Zardari to join the party and expressed his enthusiasm for entering the upcoming February 8, 2024 general elections with PPP's support. Bugti, formerly associated with the Balochistan Awami Party (BAP), expressed hope for peace restoration in Balochistan under Zardari's leadership and urged him to build a state-of-the-art hospital in Turbat. He pledged to make the PPP a progressive party under Zardari's guidance and emphasized the party's role in challenging narratives against Pakistan.
