PTI is considering seeking the Lahore High Court's intervention to lift the stay order amid concerns about a potential delay in the elections.

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) acknowledges the misstep in obtaining a stay order from the Lahore High Court against Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) appointments for the general elections and suggests the possibility of seeking the court's approval for the order's withdrawal to expedite the case hearing on its merits.

PTI Senator Ali Zafar conveys that withdrawing the stay order might hasten the process of deciding the fate of the appointment of District Returning Officers (DROs) and Returning Officers (ROs). While maintaining the correctness of the PTI's stance against appointing officers from the bureaucracy, Zafar admits to a lack of communication within the party, expressing unawareness of the pursuit of a stay order.

The Lahore High Court's stay order, prompted by a PTI petition, led to the Election Commission of Pakistan halting the training of election officers, raising concerns about a potential delay in the polls.

Addressing queries about accepting election results conducted by judicial officers, Zafar emphasizes the need for all parties, including the PTI, to learn to accept the outcomes. He highlights the importance of accepting the mandate of the masses, regardless of whether elections are conducted by judicial officers or bureaucracy.

Responding to concerns about tackling rigging, Zafar points to the Election Act, which outlines the process of providing evidence of rigging in a specific constituency.

In a separate development, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) accuses the PTI of conspiring to postpone the February 8 general elections. PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif alleges that the PTI's petition against hiring DROs from the bureaucracy is an attempt to sabotage people's representation and create a conspiracy against the upcoming elections. Sharif criticizes the PTI's double standards and calls the petition a plot to evade the electoral process. He further states that if the elections on February 8, 2024, face a delay, the responsibility would lie with the PTI.
