Sanam Javed from PTI will run in the elections as a candidate against Maryam Nawaz.
Sanam, along with numerous PTI workers, was arrested in the aftermath of the May 9 riots. Despite being detained, the imprisoned activist will be a candidate in the elections as part of PTI's ticket. Maryam has not disclosed the constituency where she plans to run in the upcoming polls.
In Lahore, the imprisoned PTI activist Sanam Javed is set to contest the elections against Maryam Nawaz, the Senior Vice President of the PML-N, according to her father's statement on Tuesday.
Sanam, among several PTI members detained after the May 9 riots linked to Imran Khan's arrest, faces charges related to violent protests earlier in the year, including an attack on the Corps Commander House and the burning of police vehicles.
Despite her incarceration, Sanam plans to submit nomination papers for Lahore's PP-150 constituency and will participate in the elections on the PTI's ticket.
Her father mentioned that she will also submit papers for a women's reserved seat.
Meanwhile, Maryam Nawaz has yet to announce the constituency for her election participation.
The PML-N's parliamentary board is currently interviewing candidates for party tickets, while the Election Commission of Pakistan will start receiving nomination papers from candidates on December 20, following the swearing-in of district returning officers and returning officers in accordance with the Elections Act 2017.
