PTA acknowledges reports of disruptions in social media.

On Monday, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) acknowledged the investigation of reported internet disruptions in certain areas of the country.
In a statement, the PTA clarified that, overall, the state of internet access nationwide remained normal.
This declaration followed a day of significant disruptions on social media platforms, including YouTube, Facebook, and X (previously known as Twitter), with users nationwide expressing difficulties.
Downdetector indicated that issues, particularly with the website versions of these apps, arose after 7:00 pm on Sunday, affecting major cities such as Karachi, Lahore, Mir Pur Khas, and Rawalpindi.
Some users resorted to WhatsApp to report delays in internet services, and as of the report filing, the cause of the outage remained undetermined.
While numerous users reported slow internet, some noted that using a VPN improved connectivity, leading to concerns among the public about potential intentional slowing down.
A journalist on X raised concerns about accessing Twitter/X and other social media platforms, noting a general slowdown in internet speed, prompting responses from many users confirming similar issues.
Another X user inquired about imposed limitations on internet access and the use of social media applications in Pakistan, seeking confirmation of this information.
