Never enjoyed level playing field’: PPP ready to play on all kinds of pitch: Bilawal Bhutto Zardari

During a press conference in Mithi on Tuesday, Chairman of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari emphasized that his party had never experienced a fair and unbiased political environment. He noted that a specific "pitch" was currently being prepared, but despite this, his party remained prepared to engage in politics under any circumstances.

Bilawal Bhutto suggested that Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, the leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), should focus on addressing the issues in Punjab rather than attempting to make political inroads into Sindh and Balochistan. He urged the PML-N to conduct politics independently without relying on any external entities.

Questioning the potential of those who couldn't secure victories in Punjab's by-elections, Bilawal Bhutto expressed skepticism about the PML-N surprising the PPP. He held the caretaker setup responsible for organizing general elections and criticized the policies carried forward from the previous coalition, leading to various crises over the past five years.

Bilawal called for a significant number of PPP candidates in the upcoming elections, asserting that the party was committed to serving the people's interests. Highlighting the PPP's achievements, he pointed out a notable reduction in child mortality in Thar due to the government's efforts.

Recalling the decision to align with the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), Bilawal stressed that it was made in the national interest rather than for political gains. He expressed the party's intention to form a government after the elections.

Bilawal Bhutto claimed that the PPP had outperformed both the PML-N and PTI, emphasizing the party's ability to deliver. He reiterated the party's commitment to fulfilling the historic promise of "Roti, Kapra, and Makan" (Food, Clothing, and Shelter) that played a pivotal role in Zulfikar Ali Bhutto's victory in the 1970 general elections.

The chairman lamented the central government's withholding of funds under the National Finance Commission (NFC) Award, hindering development projects and flood rehabilitation efforts in Sindh. Bilawal highlighted social welfare initiatives in Thar and other regions, challenging character assassination attempts against the PPP's credibility and commitment to development works.
