In an official statement, the military's media wing reported an escalation in terrorist activities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's DI Khan district during the night of December 11-12, resulting in the elimination of 27 terrorists through various operations.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), six terrorists initiated an attack on a security post in the early hours of December 12. Despite the effective prevention of their attempt to breach the post, the terrorists resorted to crashing an explosives-laden vehicle into the post, followed by a suicide bombing.
The resulting explosions caused the building to collapse, leading to multiple casualties, with 23 brave soldiers attaining martyrdom. All six terrorists were successfully engaged and neutralized in the process. Ongoing sanitization operations aim to eliminate any remaining terrorists in the area, with the ISPR emphasizing the determination of Pakistan's security forces to eradicate the menace of terrorism, highlighting the sacrifices of their soldiers as a testament to their unwavering resolve.
Additionally, an intelligence-based operation in the Darazinda area of Dera Ismail Khan resulted in the death of 17 terrorists, while a separate operation in the general area of Kulachi led to the elimination of four terrorists. During the latter operation, two soldiers fought gallantly but succumbed to martyrdom in the intense exchange of fire.
The ISPR revealed that the slain terrorists were actively involved in various anti-security forces activities and the killing of innocent civilians. Recovered from the operations were weapons, ammunition, and explosives. Caretaker Interior Minister Sarfaraz Bugti, in a post on social media, condemned the terrorist attack on the police station and expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives
