Chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Imran Khan, has submitted a bail petition post his arrest in the 190-million-pound scandal case to the accountability court in Islamabad. The petition, presented by lawyers Latif Khosa, Intezar Panjotha, and Ali Ijaz on behalf of Imran Khan, includes the NAB chairman and director general as parties. Accountability court judge Muhammad Bashir has issued notices to all concerned parties.
The petition argues that Imran Khan, a former prime minister and renowned cricketer, is facing politically motivated charges that are tarnishing his reputation. The request seeks post-arrest bail until a verdict is reached in the 190 million-pound scandal case.
During the courtroom proceedings, NAB Prosecutor Sohail Arif received the notice, leading to the adjournment of the case hearing until December 4. Notably, on November 29, the Law Ministry issued a notification for Imran Khan's trial in Adiala Jail concerning the Toshakhana and 190 million pounds scandal cases. The approval from the federal government paved the way for the accountability court to conduct proceedings in Adiala Jail.
It is pertinent to mention that the Interior Ministry had previously issued a notification authorizing the accountability court to conduct a jail trial for Imran Khan in the 190 million-pound case.
