A successfully defused explosive concealed in a school bag was found under the bogie of the Awami Express, according to BDU.

According to the BDU report, a bomb was discovered near seat number 71 in bogie number 5 of the Awami Express. The explosive was concealed in a black and red school bag. The bag weighed approximately 5 kg, with two and a half kg of explosives found after successful defusal. Additionally, the electrical detonator was confiscated post-defusal.

The BDU emphasized that the bomb, initially recovered from a bag at Cantt Station in Karachi, was effectively defused. Notably, the Karachi Deputy Inspector General (DIG) South, Asad Raza, confirmed that the bag contained an improvised explosive device (IED). The defusal process involved two controlled blasts, initiated after the report of a suspicious bag at 9 am, which was found placed beneath a seat in the train.
