Pakistan has revealed the lineup for the third T20I against New Zealand.
Inclusion of Waseem Jr, Mohammad Nawaz, and Zaman Khan in the squad. Abbas excluded due to a low-grade abdominal wall muscle strain. The third T20I is scheduled to happen in Dunedin on January 17.
On Tuesday, Pakistan disclosed their playing eleven for the upcoming third T20I against New Zealand, scheduled for tomorrow in Dunedin. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced the exclusion of Usama Mir and Aamer Jamal from the team, while Abbas Afridi will miss the match due to a minor abdominal muscle strain. Muhammad Wasim Junior, Mohammad Nawaz, and Zaman Khan have been included in the lineup.
The PCB reported that Abbas Afridi's scan revealed no significant injury, and he will be treated based on his symptoms. His availability for the remaining two games will be determined later. Abbas Afridi's absence is a notable setback for the team, given his role as the leading wicket-taker alongside Haris Rauf.
In the second Twenty20 international, New Zealand secured a 2-0 series lead by defeating Pakistan by 21 runs. Despite strong performances by Babar Azam and Fakhar Zaman, Pakistan's run chase faltered as they were dismissed for 173 in response to New Zealand's 194-8. Kane Williamson's retirement hurt due to a hamstring injury adds uncertainty to his participation in the rest of the series.
The third T20I will witness the following playing XI for Pakistan: Shaheen Shah Afridi (captain), Mohammad Rizwan (vice-captain), Azam Khan (wicket-keeper), Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman, Haris Rauf, Iftikhar Ahmed, Saim Ayub, Muhammad Wasim Junior, Mohammad Nawaz, and Zaman Khan.
The complete schedule for the series includes matches on January 12 at Eden Park, Auckland; January 14 at Seddon Park, Hamilton; January 17 at University Oval, Dunedin; January 19 at Hagley Oval, Christchurch; and January 21 at Hagley Oval, Christchurch.
