Pakistan and China convene for the fourth round of maritime cooperation talks.

During the meeting, a comprehensive discussion took place, covering various aspects of bilateral maritime cooperation. This included naval interactions, regional collaboration, the development of maritime infrastructure, joint efforts in fisheries, advancements in science and technology, engagement in search and rescue operations, management of maritime disasters, and joint initiatives to combat maritime pollution. The Foreign Office spokesperson issued a statement outlining the extensive range of topics covered.

The consultations were co-chaired by Mohammad Aamir Khan, the Director General (China) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan, and Wang Jinfeng, the Deputy Director General of the Department of Boundary and Ocean Affairs of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Following the session, Wang Jinfeng held discussions with Imran Ahmed Siddiqui, the additional secretary (Asia-Pacific) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Both sides expressed contentment with the enduring friendship and the All-weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership between Pakistan and China. They pledged to further enhance bilateral maritime cooperation. Acknowledging the dynamic changes in regional and global maritime scenarios, the two countries affirmed that their collaborative efforts align with a shared vision for a peaceful and prosperous Asia-Pacific region.

Highlighting the importance of practical cooperation to address emerging threats and challenges, both parties agreed to sustain the momentum of bilateral exchanges and strengthen ties between their respective navies. The commitment to promoting mutual cooperation was underscored.

It was mutually decided that the 5th round of Maritime Dialogue would take place in China next year, further solidifying the commitment to ongoing and future collaboration between Pakistan and China in the maritime domain.
